Such an important day

January 28 is a very important day in history!

In 1547, Henry VIII died.

In 1915, Congress created the Coast Guard as a branch of the Armed Services, to protect our seas, and to give the Army someone else to make fun of besides the Navy.

In 1973, the US involvement in Vietnam was finally ended when the Paris Peace Accords went into effect.

In 1986, The space shuttle Challenger exploded. This was to be the first mission to send a teacher into space. I'll never forget that day. I was in Art class, 6th grade.

And in 1955, My mother was born!

Here's a picture of what she looked like the year I was born, the year she graduated High School, the year she first got married, 1973.

Isn't she beautiful? She really hasn't changed much, still beautiful. And she has the most perfect teeth on the planet, a trait she sadly did not pass down to me. She is simply the most kind and tender-hearted Southern Belle you would ever hope to meet, and she would give you the clothes off her back if you needed it. Here's a picture of me (her greatest achievement, haha!), in 1974.
