100th Post! 100 things about me

As this is my 100th post, I guess I'll do the traditional 100 things about me. This may take awhile, sorry its so long.

1. I am the oldest of 4 kids, me, my sister, and 2 brothers. My father also has another son that is a lot younger than me.

2. I also have 2 stepbrothers and 2 stepsisters that I NEVER see.

3. I have 3 children- 2 boys (13 and 9) and Babygirl (5)

4. I am active duty Air Force, and have been for almost 12 years

5. I met my hubby at a 1992 World Series party that his aunt was throwing. I worked with his aunt at Pizza Hut. We were married in March 1993

6. I graduated high school in 1992, in Georgia.

7. My first car was a 1964 Ford Falcon. My dad built it for me, it was metallic blue

8. I traded that Falcon in for a 1984 Omni and my dad still hasn't forgiven me for it

9. I'm a wannabe runner, and I have spurts of motivation when I think I can become a runner. They are short lived. When the mood strikes me though, I totally over do it and hurt like hell for a week.

10. I have lived in Georgia, Texas, South Carolina, Illinois, Alaska, Virginia, Florida, and North Dakota. I do not remember living in Florida or Virginia because I was too small. I mostly grew up in Illinois and Georgia.

11. Alaska was by far my favorite place to live

12. I am a terrible dresser, and I live in sweats and T-shirts when I'm not in uniform. I'd love to change that, but I have no style.

13. I love wearing a uniform because I don't have to think about what I'm going to wear to work

14. I love wearing combat boots and I think they are more comfortable than any other shoe I own

15. I am a mechanic, and I'm really good at it. But I hate being a mechanic, so I try to get office positions. I have been in an office for 3 years now.

16. I am about halfway to a Bachelors of Science degree, majoring in Human Resources

17. I got my associates degree in April of 2005, the same week I got promoted to Technical Sergeant (TSgt), and was named NCO of the quarter for my squadron. It was the proudest week in my whole career, and the busiest.

18. I love running on my treadmill, but I hate running on a track or outside.

19. My official run time for the 1.5 mile run last year was 15:35. I was really disappointed with myself. I want to do it in 14 minutes.

20. I LOVE hot tea, and I have at least 2 cups every night.

22. I have never had a Starbucks coffee, and I really don't care if I ever do.

23. When I do have coffee, it has so much cream in it that it looks like peanut butter

24. I long to be the 120 lb girl I was when I got married, but I'd settle for being 130 or so.

25. I have to lose another 10 lbs to hit 130 or so.

26. My husband and I went to the Bahamas on a cruise for our honeymoon. That's the only time I've ever been out of the country.

27. My dream is to get stationed in Europe soon. I'd love Germany or Italy.

28. I have a dog and 2 cats. I love the dog. I hate the cats.

29. I am very short, only 5 foot 2. All the women in my family are very short. Most of the men are very tall.

30. I only own 1 pair of blue jeans and they are falling apart. I hate to buy new ones because I can never find a pair that fit right.

31. I almost never wear dresses or skirts. I only wear them when I have to, or when I have to wear my dress blues.

32. My daughter thinks I am a goddess, and that I am beautiful. That's good enough for me.

33. My self esteem has increased 100% since I met my husband, and I was way cuter back then. He makes me feel young and pretty.

34. I have always wanted to learn to play the guitar or the piano. I own 2 guitars and a full keyboard and I can't play any of them.

35. I read all the time, and once I start a book, I can't put it down.

36. I complain about having to wear my hair up every workday, but on the weekends, I almost always wear a pony tail. Its just easier.

37. I wear my hair french braided to work every day. I can do a great braid in less than 1 minute. I learned it in Girl Scouts when I was 9.

38. I am in awe of female athletes. Especially runners and gymnasts.

39. I have had 3 c-sections and I hate what they did to my abs

40. I have always wanted to know what its like to have natural childbirth, but I got my tubes tied after my 3rd was born.

41. I got terrible grades in high school. I skipped about 80 days in my junior year and had to go to summer school after my senior year in order to graduate.

42. When I was a senior I taught pre-school as one of my electives.

43. My first job was at Hungry Howie's Pizza and Subs, when I was 15.

44. I also worked at a dry cleaners and Pizza Hut while in high school

45. After high school I worked as a nanny for about 6 months. After I married I worked as a receptionist for an insurance company.

46. I was a choir geek in middle and high school. I had the same choir teacher for 4 years. His is the only name I can remember of any of my teachers.

47. In my junior year my classmates gave me the "I love chorus but I'm never here" award. They thought it was funny, but I thought it was mean, and my feeling were hurt. I really hated high school.

48. I have only kept in touch with one friend from high school, and we haven't actually seen each other in about 17 years. We found each other through My Space after 16 years, and now we e-mail each other.

49. I like My space for awhile, but it got old and I killed my account

50. I have a tendency to bite my lips a lot. I read that this is a form of OCD. I used to make fun of my hubby for being a little OCD. I don't anymore.

51. I think EVERYONE has a little OCD going on, whether they admit it or or not.

52. I hate reading e-mails or blog posts that have a lot of spelling or punctuation errors. Pet peeve I guess.

53. I tend to not use complete sentences in my blog posts. Probably other people's pet peeve, huh?

54. I started coloring my hair in my mid 20's because I started going gray. Now I have to keep coloring it. I have really thin hair, all the women in my family do

55. I don't really have a favorite movie star, but I love to watch chick movies. And Lifetime movies. I know, same thing.

56. I loved having babies, but I love having school aged kids so much more.

57. I hate North Dakota winters. I would rather be somewhere warmer.

58. I got my first tattoo when I was 33. I now have 3 and would like one more.

59. I have 3 butterflies tattooed on my hip, one butterfly on my ankle, and a cluster of flowers on my thigh. Some think they are strange, but I LOVE them.

60. I am not afraid of heights, but I am afraid of big things. I once walked into a storage hanger and saw several propellers for a C-130 (they were ginormous), and I almost had a heart attack. I don't know why. Big tall buildings make me nervous too.

61. The Blair Witch Project made me feel nauseous, and only the last 5 minutes of it scared me.

62. I hate scary movies except for old Vincent Price movies. But they aren't very scary are they?

63. The Exorcist scared the bejesus out of me, and I can't even see a picture of that girl without the hair standing up on my neck and having to shut my eyes.

64. My 2 favorite shows are The Biggest Loser and Medium. I also love Chuck because my hubby and I watch it together.

65. I have never seen Survivor, Lost, or the Amazing Race. I'm not a reality show fan for the most part.

66. I watch more Hannah Montana, Drake and Josh, and iCarly than any grown person should, but my kids love them, and I do too.

67. I really don't like fast food except for Subway, but I'll tolerate McD's once in awhile. I hate Burger King. Arby's is alright.

68. We almost never eat out anymore because the nearest town is about 15 miles away.

69. I love rock music. My husband and kids love country. I often feel like the oddball of the family.

70. I almost never wear make-up. I have contacts, but I almost never wear them.

71. I hate talking in front of a group, but I am actually pretty good at it. Acting! I just pretend I am confident, and most of the time they buy it.

72. I still have to remind myself that I am a grown-up sometimes, and that I don't have to ask permission to spend money or go somewhere.

73. I still do anyways because I think it's considerate to my husband.

74. I have massive mommy/wife guilt sometimes if I want to go somewhere besides work or the gym.

75. I seldom go anywhere besides work or the gym without my whole family being with me.

76. I love the beach, but when I was in Biloxi alone (for work) for 6 weeks last summer, I didn't go to the beach once.

77. I love lotions and candles, but only fruity smelling ones. I cannot handle perfume or musky smells, they give me a headache.

78. I have a Gateway laptop, a present from my hubby when I got promoted to TSgt. He also got me the treadmill. The 2 things I most wanted!

79. I don't watch much TV anymore, but it is always on in the background in my house.

80. I listen to rock music every time I shower. It helps me keep track of time in the mornings. I know 2 songs is about 6 minutes. And I sing LOUD in the shower. I bet our duplex neighbors really hate me, as I usually shower at 0615.

81. I learn songs very quickly and I sing everything in the car. All of my kids do too.

82. I played Jimmy Buffet for them once in the car, and now they love Cheeseburger in Paradise and ask me to play it all the time. I only do when hubby is not with us, which is not often.

83. I still have towels that were given to me as a wedding present 15 years ago, and I still use them. I really need new towels.

84. I am really good at pulling my kids loose teeth out.

85. I can cross my eyes and wink, but I cannot snap my fingers to save my life.

85. I took belly dancing classes with my best girlfriend 2 years ago. It was the most fun I ever had.

86. I can make a killer omelet and the best fried chicken in the world (according to my family)

87. I had really bad acne as a teenager, and though my face is clear now, I can still see it in the mirror sometimes like its still there.

88. When I was 14 I got completely smashed on Jack Daniels and Diet Coke. That was the last time I was really drunk, and even the smell of JD makes me feel sick. I have not been a big drinker ever since. Just a glass of cheap wine here or there.

89. I hate beer and the smell of beer

90. When I was 13 I crashed a bike and broke my front teeth. I have hated my smile since. But last year they were finally fixed right (thank you, AF) and I don't hate it anymore.

91. I am a lot braver in my mind than I am in real life. I think a lot of the things I wish I could say out loud

92. I am a lot bolder in blog land than I am in real life

93. I love reading my daughter her bedtime story, and I love singing her her lullaby. She is 5 and I don't know how long she'll let me keep doing that.

94. I used to smoke from the time I was 15 till I was 20. I re-lapsed (just for like 2 months or so) before I got pregnant with my daughter. After I found out, I quit and haven't smoked since.

95. Most people who know me can't believe I was such a wild one when I was young

96. I secretly wonder if my parents and grandparents are proud of me, or if they resent me taking their grand kids so far away.

97. I really wanted to be a singer when I was a teenager, and I could sing pretty well. I sang a solo in church once when I was 16, and I made a lot of people cry (the good kind of cry).

98. I dread getting old. I hope I am one of those older ladies that still looks really beautiful and dignified even when I'm 80. Women live a really long time in my family. I am so afraid of being an invalid or a burden.

99. I ran a 5K last summer in 30 minutes flat. I was so proud my head was swollen! I'd love to be able to beat that, but I really have a lot of work to do.

100. I think I'm a great Mom! I think my biggest accomplishment is how well my kids are turning out. I think they are going to be fantastic adults, and I can't wait to see what they become. I am also proud of my marriage, 15 years strong. That's quite an accomplishment this day and age.

Phew, glad that's over. I thought it would be hard, but I could probably go another 100! Maybe the 200th post I'll do it again. Feel free to ask any questions you might have; I'll try to answer them.

Cheers!

Wow, that was really cool! I loved reading all those little tidbits about you.

I think you're a great mom too. You can just hear the love you have for them.

Do you have the combat boots that have the zipper up the side, as well as the laces in the front? Kurt has those, and he thinks they're the most comfortable boots he's ever owned. He'd much rather wear those than the Corfams he wears every day to work now that he's an office worker.

I love your 100! And you have WAY more than 100 things about you listed here! I had to laugh about your fear of "big things." So many jokes could be made...

And for the record - I think you're a great mom, too. :)

OMG! Number 60! I've never met anyone else with that phobia! This is why I could never go on a cruise. I wouldn't be able to get anywhere near the boat to even get on it, the damned things are just too friggin' big!

Awesome list, hon, and congrats on your 100th post!

Blue-Nope, no zippers, I am an old school, traditional steel toe combat boot lady. Actually, I probably would like them, but I've never tried.

Your 100 things was so good. So many times I just skim over them because they get a little boring. But yours was great and I actually read all the way through it.

We have so many things in common- I'm short, need to lose some weight to get back to that 120, I only have one pair of jeans (that fit), I have thin hair, I'm a bit OCD, I love The Biggest Loser. But- no tatoos for me.

Anyhoo- great list! Congrats on your 100.

You know, I just did my 1000th post a few weeks ago, and if I had to come up with 1000 things about me I'd collapse in a heap.

What part of Illinois did you live in?

Smooches...

Seriously, that was great, you should link to this post on your sidebar. I'd love to do something like this but I probably wouldn't be able to think of anything.

This was a great post!! I agree with everyone else! Some people drone on and on and you can't bear to continue after the first 20 or so. Totally not true here.

I do have to say that Lost is not a reality show, though. LOL Hubbie and I weren't fans in the beginning--we were too busy with a newborn to watch any TV. But then we made the mistake of watching it over the summer when they played the whole first season in order. We are hooked. Sigh. I think I am just in love with Matthew Fox. I have loved him since Party of Five. Yes, I know that makes me a dork.

Thanks for sharing your first 100, I look forward to the next installment...
